Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ever get to see your husband?

Never as much as I would like! This depends a lot on our monthly rotations. Some months really aren't too bad and we probably see each other as much as other busy couples. Some months we may go days without seeing each other, at least during waking moments. It helps to have lunch or dinner dates at the hospital when we can.

What do you do like to do when you aren't working?

Sleep! I have to admit, I love to sleep. I love my bed. There isn't much better in life than my warm soft bed, either at night after a long day or on a day when I get to sleep in.

When I can muster the courage/motivation/energy/stamina to get myself out of bed, I love eating desserts made by my husband, Zumba, SCUBA, traveling, biking, home projects, and watching marathons of somewhat inappropriate TV when my husband is at work.

Oh, and any excuse to go to COSTCO.

How do you do it?

I get this question a lot. If you are referring to managing my crazy schedule, I think it comes down to, "You do what you have to do." Somehow you make it work. I'm sure you would, too.

How do you stand to put your hands in people's mouths all day?

There are a lot worse places to put hands!

It seems like you travel a lot. Where have you been?

My husband and I love to travel! We don't get much time off from work but when we do, we like to go somewhere. We enjoy domestic travel but what we really like is exploring new tropical destinations.

Most of my travels have been throughout the Caribbean for SCUBA diving. I spent the longest time in Utila, Honduras during my training to become a Dive Master before starting dental school. Some of the places I have been include Thailand, Malaysia, Curacao, Belize, US and British Virgin Islands, Mexico, Roatan, Cayman Islands, and other short stops in other Caribbean islands. My favorite trip so far was a week long trip to Japan.

So, when will you have kids?

I have no idea! After delaying the start of our family until I was further in my training, we learned we were unable to do conceive on our own due to a condition I have called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Since that time we have moved from pills to more intense treatment --in vitro fertilization. So far we haven't had success but are hopeful for the future.

Hi Erin.

I'm Thalia. I'm also a married female LDS dental student thinking very seriously about an OMFS residency. I'd love to pick your brain sometime. Is there a way we can get I'm touch? Seriously, I feel like I had to pull teeth to find any LDS women in the field. Pun totally intended!

Thanks for the letter! It is a very good and concise description of what we went through through the procedures and finally getting to August and a resolution.
You are probably right about my claim to Medicare being rejected, but I have to try.
Now, you MUST take care Erin, AND of those precious babies.

OOPS! My bad, I forgot to mention sinus communication and all the trouble it caused you to get it closed.
Take care

I don't know if you still look here for messages or whatever.
But I wanted to say that I just this evening found out that you will no longer be practicing here in the Burlington area. ASad news for me because of the time I got to know you.
I truly hope and pray that your next practice goes wel, and that you will be happy in it!

So, God Bless and take care ALL four of you!

PS> the pictures on the main page of you and the babies are terrific!
